Using DirectAdmin with AtrioMail

There is no DirectAdmin integration today. AtrioMail does not plug into the DirectAdmin panel: there is no two way sync, no shared sign-in and no automatic provisioning from a DirectAdmin hosting account.

This article explains what does work if your hosting runs on DirectAdmin.

Moving mail off a DirectAdmin server

IMAP migration is built into the control panel and has no charge. You pay only for the mailboxes you migrate into.

The migration tool copies mail from any server that allows IMAP sign-in with a password, which is how mail on a typical DirectAdmin, cPanel or Plesk server works.

1. Create the domain and its mailboxes in AtrioMail
2. Go to Email Migrations (or Bulk Email Migrations for several mailboxes from the same old server)
3. Enter the old server's IMAP details and each mailbox password
4. Run it as a dry run first if you want to check the settings, or schedule it for later

For a single mailbox, the panel tests the sign-in for both the old and the new mailbox before it starts, so a wrong password shows up in seconds. Migration keeps the folder structure and the original date on every message, and it moves mail only. Every account needs its own password. If you have a large book of mailboxes, plan it with us first.

DNS records

Automatic mail DNS, including the DKIM key, is built for Cloudflare and Namecheap. DirectAdmin's own DNS is not automated: for any other DNS provider or control panel, check with us before relying on it.

If your DNS is not connected, every domain has a DNS Setup dialog listing the records to add at your DNS host (MX, SPF, DMARC, and the DKIM key and Amazon SES verification records once generated), each with a copy button. The refresh icon (circular arrows) on the domain's row re-checks the live records.

Writing the MX record moves that domain's mail, so add the domain in AtrioMail when you are ready to switch.

Automating provisioning anyway

If you resell hosting and want orders to create email accounts automatically, two routes exist today:

• WHMCS: there is a provisioning module. Download it from the Plugins page in the control panel.
• Anything else, DirectAdmin included: build it on the REST API. See the API article, and create a key on the API Keys page.
