Solutions for common migration problems.

Common Issues
Authentication Failed
- Enable IMAP in the source email account
- Gmail and Google Workspace: use an app password (Google requires 2-Step Verification for app passwords, and a Workspace admin can block them)
- Yahoo Mail and iCloud Mail: use an app-specific password from that provider
- Verify the credentials are correct. For a single-mailbox migration, the panel tests the sign-in for both the old and the new mailbox before it starts, so a wrong password shows up straight away
Microsoft 365, Outlook.com or Hotmail
- The built-in tool cannot migrate these: Microsoft no longer allows password sign-in over IMAP
- Moving a Microsoft 365 tenant needs a different route, so contact support before you plan it
Connection Timeout
- Check the source server is online
- Wait 30 minutes, retry
- Verify internet connection
Migration Stuck
- Large folders take time
- Check if it is progressing slowly
- Contact support if it has been stuck for more than 24 hours
Missing Emails
- Check Archive/All Mail folders
- Re-run the migration if needed
- Remember that migration moves mail only: calendars, contacts and tasks are not copied
Very Slow
- Normal for large mailboxes
- Speed depends on the old provider and on mailbox size
- Be patient!
Destination Mailbox Full
- The new mailbox needs enough space for the mail being copied
- Raise the mailbox's Disk space in 5 GB steps (open the mailbox in Email Mailboxes, Storage section), then re-run the migration
Tips
- Run a dry run first to check the connection before copying mail
- Migration keeps the folder structure and the original date on every message
- Planning a large number of mailboxes? Talk to support first
